About Lincoln Park Veterinary Hospital

History:

LPVA Building Lincoln Park Veterinary Hospital was established in 1948 by Dr. E.R. Zingeser and has been serving the needs of the Downriver community with quality medicine, surgery and client service since its inception.

Lincoln Park Veterinary Hospital has several areas of special interest including: Radioiodine Therapy, Orthopedics, Ultrasound, Dentistry, Feline Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, Laser Surgery and Pediatric Medicine.

Dr. Jeffrey N. Dizik, D.V.M.

Dr. Jeff Dizik received his degree in Veterinary Medicine from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University in 1975. He did an internship at the Henry Berg Memorial Hospital in New York City before going into private practice. After leaving his internship, he practiced in a number of different hospitals in Connecticut and Michigan, learning from many excellent veterinarians.

He became the owner of Lincoln Park Veterinary Hospital in 1984 after working with Dr. E.R. Zingeser for a few years. While working in Emergency Medicine, he had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Don Monyan. He did relief work for Dr. Monyan for a number of years and then purchased Downriver Animal Hospital in 1987. In 1986, a group of veterinarians in the Downriver community formed Affiliated Veterinary Emergency Service (AVES). After 10 years of being the AVES managing partner, he purchased Affiliated Veterinary Emergency Service upon the retirement of many of the group members.

In 1995, he joined the Board of the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA), became a member of the executive committee in 2000, and president of the MVMA in 2003. During his term as president, he created the Emergency Preparedness Taskforce. Dr. Dizik is currently a member of The Michigan Veterinary Corps and Treasurer of Michigan Animal Response Team. It is his goal to see that the State of Michigan is well prepared for any emergency that might affect the animal population.

Dr. Dizik currently resides with wife Lisa, daughter Lily, and two dogs in Bloomfield Hills. He has two sons, Bradley, who is a law student at Michigan State University, and Jordan, who is a student at Eastern Michigan University. His special interests are in Dentistry, Orthopedics and Radioiodine treatment for Hyperthyroidism for cats.

Dr. Erin Kelly, D.V.M.

Dr. Kelly earned a Bachelor of Science in physiology before obtaining a veterinary degree from Michigan State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1991. She has worked at Lincoln Park Veterinary Hospital since that time. Her education has been furthered by attending numerous professional seminars in abdominal ultrasound, internal medicine and CO2 laser surgery. Her free time is spent caring for her children and landscaping her yard. Dr. Kelly and her husband have two children, Ben and Samantha. Their pets include an Aussie mix named Jack and on orange tabby named Eddy.

Dr. Christine Juergens, D.V.M.

Christine Juergens earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Michigan State University in 1993, then went on to graduate with honors in Veterinary Medicine in 1997. She then joined the team at Lincoln Park Veterinary Hospital where she has a special interest in ophthalmology and internal medicine. She has a soft spot for sweet Chihuahuas and big dog noses. She and her husband have two children, William and Claire.

Dr. Carrie Hawthorne, D.V.M.

Dr. Hawthorne's love of science, medicine and animals brought her to the field of veterinary medicine. She grew up in the Downriver area and graduated from Southgate Anderson High School. In 1996, she graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science in Physiology, then attended Michigan State College of Veterinary Medicine. She focused her interests in small animal cardiology, internal medicine, and ultrasound. She has been in clinical practice for 7 years. She has 3 cats and a Goldendoodle named Tess.
